who we are
Yoko trained at the Architectural Association, University of Cambridge and the University of East London. She has worked for Penoyre and Prasad Architects, John MacAslan and Partners, MJP Architects and Tibbalds Planning & Urban Design. Yoko set up her own practice, Ampersand Architecture in 2012.
Yoko's passion is houses and housing, creating uplifting, functional flexible spaces as a setting for everyday life.
She has extensive experience in residential and mixed use projects - ranging from small scale refurbishments to a residential masterplan of 3,300 homes. She has worked with developers and housebuilders, as well as private clients wanting to make the most of their family home.
She has also worked on numerous fit-outs of commercial premises - designing restaurants and workspaces.
Having worked as an urban designer for a planning consultancy, Yoko has considerable experience of preparing planning applications, design codes, and masterplans. She has also worked closely with local authorities, and has successfully negotiated development in Conservation Areas, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and Listed Buildings.
